Frenchy’s Original Café is a small, quaint place featuring many of Frenchy’s original menu items, like the smoked fish spread, seafood gumbo, boiled shrimp and Greek salad…and where the now famous Super Grouper sandwich made its debut. Since its doors first opened in 1981, the quality, ambiance and charm have remained, making it a continual favorite among the locals.

Frenchy continued building his mini empire on Clearwater Beach with the purchase of the former Olympia Motel on East Shore Drive. In late 2010, after months of extensive renovations, Frenchy’s Oasis Motel opened welcomed its first guests, boasting a 15-unit waterfront property, classically designed in a retro 60’s style with fantastic modern accommodations.
Florida stone crab claws are served fresh at all Frenchy’s restaurants during harvesting season (Oct. 15 through May 15). Known for their sweet succulence and snowy white meat, stone crab has a delicate texture, rich mouth feel and salty finish – and they are a completely sustainable seafood product! Our fishermen capture the crab, remove its claws and return the crab back to the water. The stone crab will regenerate its claws in about 18 months.
“Real Grouper. Reel Fresh.” is the key at Frenchy’s. Shortly after opening the Original Cafe in 1981, Frenchy realized he needed to catch his own fish to ensure maximum freshness and quality for his restaurant. In 1983, he purchased his first boat and started Frenchy’s Seafood Company. Over the years, it’s grown into a fleet of commercial fishing boats that unload their fresh, line-caught grouper, snapper and other fish at the docks of Frenchy’s Seafood Company.
